The Winter Training Series is for O Swimmers to continue swimming through the winter in a safe environment. We are using a short course and time limit for safety reasons - 500m triangle course close to shore. We welcome swimmers from other groups who have been swimming through the winter. The series is on a donation basis (see recommended donation) to help cover our costs.
Time limit - 45m-1h for the next four weeks. We will make a call on the day with other factors to be considered.

Recommended donation - $20 per swim
Caution - Now in the depths of winter, the next four weeks to the end of August is for swimmers who are acclimatised and have been swimming through Autumn & Winter. If you have not entered the water since May the Winter Training Series is NOT for you.
Swim to your comfort level. You do not have to swim to the time limit.
In winter conditions, swimmers are advised to wear a wetsuit for safety. Wearing a wetsuit is advised and other body warming accessories (gloves, booties, thermal hat).
A tow float helps with extra visibility but not necessary.
At the swim, each swimmer will be asked pre-swim safety questions, if we are not satisfied that you are fit to swim we will advise that you do not swim.
Hand on the head at the end of every lap - at the end of every lap and before you continue please place one hand on the top of your head to sign that you are okay to continue for the next lap, 500m.
Entering the water - do that slowly, do not run, immerse your hands in the water and dab your face, neck and head with cold water before you start your swim.
What to bring?
A hot drink in a flask for after the swim.
A hot water bottle for extra warmth.
Beanie and a warm coat.

Swim duration is a maximum of 1 hour
The Series is limited to Alert Levels 2 and 1.

Standard Course for the Winter Training Series
Direction - is decided on the day of the swim to suit conditions. The time limit is 1hr, it changes to 45mins from 25 July for four weeks.
