The Annual Long Bay 10km Swim
Long Bay Regional Park
Access, Beach Road Long Bay
6am - Registration on the Beach
6.40 - Event briefing.
7am - Start
11.00am - Cut off (4hrs)
(We will be flexible, if you need a little extra time to finish)
Lap 1 - swim for the turning marker, 3rd yellow, keeping the first two yellows on the right. Take the last yellow on the right shoulder and swim back to the start keeping all markers on the right. At the orange marker, turn sharp right and head to the beach to the feeding station.
Lap 2 - After feeding, same as lap 1
Lap 3 - same as lap 1 and 2
Lap 4 - same as the first three laps.
Finish - the finish is at the water line, by the end of the swim this will be a further 30 meters to the high tide mark.
High Tide at 11.52 (Auckland).
Swim Caps - Yellow (supplied)
A feeding station will be set up on the beach at the yellow marker. This marker is on the lowtide mark and will be chest deep at the 3hr mark. Depending on the number of swimmers, this feeding pontoon could be a sit-on kayak or inflatable. .
Personal Kayak support - Not required. We will have full water support for all swimmers. But feel free to have your own on-water support.
Swim Towfloat - Recommended.
This event will be cancelled in adverse weather conditions, and / or COVID19 escalated Level restrictions. Entries will be transferred to the next opportunity to run this event. Reserve day - Saturday 18 December.
Pre Season sea water is cooler and swimmers are advised to wear a wetsuit for personal protection and safety.
Having a towfloat is advised for swimmer safety and visibility.
The Series is limited to Alert Levels 2 and 1
All Swimmers & Spectators will register for COVID tracing
Maintain 2m distance at all times
Spectators - wearing a mask is advised
Stay within your bubble group at the swim site
