About
THE 2025 tour is a Cold Swim Tour of the Southern Lakes. The aim of the tour is to offer swimmers a new experience in Cold Water Swimming in a safe environment with other swimmers and support. The tour is four nights based in Queenstown. This is a wetsuit tour. There are two scheduled each day, including one swim on arrival day. The swims will be at various locations at Lakes Whakatipu, Moke, Hayes and a day trip to a remote location. The swims are conducted in a controlled and safe environment. How long are the swims? To each swimmer's comfort level. Maximum duration is 30 minutes. The average swim time for swimmers on the last tour was fifteen minutes (10-23 mins). Swimmers must prove a period of preparation to swim in cold temperatures. If you register for the tour you will need to provide a plan of cold-water swimming leading up to the tour. Arrive in Queenstown Friday afternoon. Training Those taking part in the swims need to train for Cold swimming through the winter. Recommend non-wetsuit swimming in the sea for Auckland swimmers. Please consult with your doctor on your health and the effect of cold-water swimming. If you have pre-existing medical conditions such as a heart issue, the swimming part of the tour is not for you. |
